BLENDI SHAHU
Blendi Shahu was born in Kukës, Albania in 1997. He completed his studies at the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja”, and the University of Arts at the Multimedia atelier in Tirana. During his studies he experimented in several forms of expression such as Installation, Performance, Video art, Audio Installation, Painting, Photography.
He participated in the workshop “Let us start from the middle” (2015) Tirana Art Lab, in the competition “Gender Equality” (2015), in the artistic colony “Cultural Heritage and Diversity in Kosovo”, Peje, Kosovo. It was also part of the exhibition organized by OSCE Tirana, Pristina, Korçë, Albania and Kosovo (2017), “Inevitable Choice” (2018), Atelie Multimedia (2018), Multimedia “Me We”, Korçë (2019), Atelie Multimedia (2019), “X Formoj” (2019), Atelie Multimedia (2020). It was also part of the Cloud Festival (2020) as well as part of the “Gur” exhibition at the GurGur Gallery (2024).
“Slow”, video art, (a capture from metallurgical of Elbasan where moves only a person that breaks stones)
“Slow” presents a portrayal of Albania’s political-historical landscape. The video captures a man breaking stones at the metallurgical site of Elbasan. Shahu’s work illustrates what once was important to the development of the communist regime, and now is sold as scrap metal.
